What is a PAT test and when is it required?

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is an essential process that involves conducting a series of tests on electrical appliances to ensure their safety and identify any potential issues. This service is crucial for maintaining a safe environment in both residential and rental properties.

When is PAT Testing Required?

Moving into a Rental Property: When you move into a rental property with existing appliances, PAT testing ensures these items are safe for use.

Annual Requirement: PAT tests are required annually, as certifications expire each year, necessitating regular testing to maintain compliance and safety standards.

Timeframe: Testing ten items typically takes approximately half an hour, though this can vary depending on the specifics of the appliances.

Choose EPM for reliable, professional PAT testing that prioritizes your safety and peace of mind. Contact EPM today to schedule your appointment and ensure your appliances are in optimal condition.

Frequently asked questions?!?

You should be able to find this information on your most recent EICR certificate.

If you are unable to find the certificate or believe you never recieved one, you should contact the company that carried out the EICR (or your Landlord / previous home owners depending on your situation)

If for any reason you are unable to find the previous certificate, booking in an EICR will be the next step to ensure the electricals in the property are safe and up to date.
